Prima & Demos

Yesterday i was very excited to discover that one of my layouts has been featured on the Prima Blog

under a “Readers Finds” post (Nov 9th), also featured are layouts from Heidi and Michelle ….. Go the kiwi’s!!!!

Last night i was at Spotlight Link Drive for the Christmas Demo evening, <6-9pm> I was showing how to make a paper ball tree decoration using Fiskars circular squeeze punches.

I worked last years event so it was pretty cool to be back again this year.

I shared a table with Paula, who was showing how to make pinwheels and Wendy was next to us showing how to decorate candles and baubles.

Each year the staff at Spotlight have a costume competiton and it’s worth being there just to see everyone dressed up!

The staff really know how to have fun, i can see why Wendy enjoys working there.

Busy Weekend

I can hardly believe the weekend is over already?

The girls and I joined Gloria & Errol for dinner Friday night, it was great to catch up and it mean’t no cooking so that was a bonus!

Saturday i travelled to Hamilton with Adrienne to attend the Paperzone xmas party and apart from a dodgy start to our trip when lanes 3 & 4 were closed on the Harbour Bridge due to an accident, we had a lovely trip down to Hamilton.

What a delightful afternoon we had in the company of some very lively ladies!

Adrienne personally delivered two boxes of the new magazine (how’s that for excellent customer service!….She really is amazing).

And we had a personally escorted tour through Paperzone from Ann-marie and what a cool little shop it is!

I want to go back to Hamilton and spend ages browsing through all of the goodies and do one of Jane’s amazing card classes!

So thank you Adrienne, it was awesome  to spend the day with you and I loved being a SANZI Design Team ambassador….lol

We let off a few fireworks late Saturday night for Caitlyn, she thought that was cool!

Sunday the girls and i had breakfast at Kings and bought 5 Bromeliads and a Venus Flytrap, of course that kept Cait busy all afternoon trying to catch flies for her new “pet”….She did well catching three so we will have a very contented carnivore….lol

I’m finishing my day with this post then i’m off to bed.

It’s Friday!

The end of the week is here which means that for the next two days all routine flies out the window, no school lunches to prepare or getting up at 7.00am….. yayyyy!

I did have a mild panic attack yesterday when Mr J informed me that he finishes school next Wednesday….No, can’t be, It’s not that time already!!???

Ah-ha….it is!

He is on “study leave” to swat for exams, but as he only has to sit one external exam because his other subjects are all internally assessed that means he’s pretty much finished his secondary school education.

I had a meeting with the NCEA co-ordinator this morning and i am very happy to report that he has passed his level 2’s ( he didn’t have enough credits last year) so at least he leaves school with NCEA level 1 & 2…… Big sigh of relief from mum!

Miss S has graduation looming from year 10 into the senior school, the criteria for graduating is to acheive 60% of available credits for the year.

That won’t be a problem for my academic she has 98% at present.

My Miss 8 informed me this morning that she wants to dye her gorgeous Blonde hair black and go Goth!!!???

I so don’t think so!!!

Not sure where this is coming from but that won’t be happening any time soon.

On other fronts, My Gypsy is registered, updated, Calibrated and i have started linking cartridges and it was all a very easy process so now i can figure out how to design something and cut it out.

Gotta love new toys to play with

I’ve been waiting very patiently to share something new and now i can.

This new magazine should have reached retailers by today, it’s produced by SANZI and is full of  ideas using some new paper ranges and exclusive specials, so next time you are at your local scrap store don’t forget to take a look.

I read online today that tomorrow is international Digi scrapping day.

I haven’t crossed over just yet but my lovely friend Michele is a fantastic digi scrapper who designs her own kits and has an online  store where you can purchase these kits.

BasicGrey

The latest challenge i have participated in over at Scrappin’ Patch is a BasicGrey challenge, the only criteria being your layout had to be at least 80% BasicGrey products.

Oh the dilemma!!!!

Which products to use????

I do have a couple of BG papers lying around (insert grin here….lol)

Eventually i decided on some Euphoria and Romani papers and played with some BG acrylic stamps to create my floral embellishments.

My Fiskars punch got a bit of a workout while i was at it.

I took these photos after i had taught Steph and Cait and their friends how to put together a couple of layouts.

All of the girls created something they were all really happy with and their mums were all very impressed.

And they had a fabulous time together, which is the most important thing!

Scrapbook Page

It’s the first time i have submitted anything to the gallery but as i have done two prima lo’s recently i thought….Oh why not have a go?

It was not so good this morning if you happened to live over this side of the Harbour Bridge up to Whangarei, or in parts of Manukau or West Auckland.

There was a major power cut at 8.00am which disrupted homes, businesses and more importantly traffic lights!

I’m so glad i wasn’t trying to get through Takapuna, Milford or Lincoln Rd as it sounds like there was major gridlock happening, it was bad enough manouvering through Silverdale and Orewa trying to get my kiddos to their respective schools.

But the power company got onto it and the power came back on at 9.20am, must admit i thought it would be out for the day…..  If not longer!

Ok, gotta go finish a BasicGrey layout, i’m using Euphoria papers…..Once again sooooo not my usual colours but we will see how it turns out….lol!!!

Another Layout Done

Today i finished another layout, this one is for the Man’s Challenge over at Scrappin’ Patch.

The criteria for this one?

Use two photos…Check!

Blue and Yellow colours…Check!

Journalling…Check!

Ribbon…Check!

Something metal…Check!

Done and uploaded in time for the cutoff date which is…..Today!

It is blue and yellow, just a bit more of a distressed blue and a very pale yellow…..lol!

But hey, it’s another layout completed and that’s got to be a good thing right?

That makes four layouts done since i joined Scrappin’ patch recently, i’m feeling very motivated with all of the challenges the design team organise so thanks ladies!

Speaking of which a new BasicGrey challenge has just been issued and ya’ll know how much i adore BasicGrey huh!

Problem is….

How the heck am i going to decide which BG products to use???????

Are you in shock?

Two posts in one day, just thought i’d catch you all off guard…..lol

I have to keep my personal blog stalker happy, she’s been complaining that i don’t do enough posts….It’s hard to keep some stalkers happy!

So Barbara, this is just for you….lol

And thanks for the lovely lunch yesterday, i really enjoyed it

So after i returned home yesterday i was perusing the Scrappin’ Patch forum, i had a post it on my desk that i had to get a multi photo layout done but i wasn’t sure when the cut off date was so i checked and bloomin’ heck it was the  same day!

Normally i would think nah, i’ll give it a miss but this time i decided to give myself a time limit and go for it!

I knew  Mal was on his way home soon and we were going out for dinner so i allowed myself 90 minutes to get it done….   That’s not a lot of time when it comes to me scrapping people!

So the Prima  covering my desk was gently pushed aside to make way for the Kaiser that was hastily chosen from the paper racks and instead of dilly- dallying like i usually do i went for it and made snap decisions ( so unlike me) and i was quite pleased with the end result.

Mal arrived home to me frantically sticking everything down and saying 5 more minutes and i’m good to go….lol

I went 5 minutes over my time limit, but hey that’s pretty good for me.

So here is the end result of my self set 90 min challenge…

Using Prima

The second challenge i have completed over at Scrappin’ Patch is a Prima challenge.

You had to create a layout using at least 80% Prima products.

My poor desk, it was bombarded with Prima stuff as i poured through my supplies and pulled out every single piece of Prima Marketing product i own.

Mind you this was not a bad job, i came across some stuff i forgot i even had   …..( bad I know!)

So i decided to use up some of my older stash instead of going for the pretty new things and i have a couple of sets of the build a frame acrylic stamps so they got a work out at the same time.

So here is the finished layout….

Thanks must go out to my lovely models, Gloria and her sister Brenda.

I enjoyed stepping out of my colour comfort zone, i normally wouldn’t have used this side of the paper as i bought it for the reverse side which is blue & green (more my colours) but as Gloria’s favourite colour is yellow it was that side that just had to be used!

So thanks Glor for making me use your fav colour…..lol

I still need to go and clean up my desk!

Or have you finally all given up on my lack of posting?

Ok, so in case someone is still reading this i’ll post a layout i did for the sketch challenge over at The Scrappin’ Patch.

I joined up to the forum recently seeing as i have more time now to try and keep up with what’s going on in the community and the challenges are a way for me to keep motivated and churning out layouts.

And this is my layout based on the sketch.

That’s another layout done for Stephanie’s album!

There are a couple more challenges i want to complete, unfortunately i had to do the dreaded GST today, but it’s done so maybe tomorrow i can whip something out….Fingers crossed!
