December First

That would be tomorrow…

That means it’s the first official day of summer here in the Southern Hemisphere and it was pretty humid today so i believe summer is here.

And Christmas day is almost upon us so it’s time for cards to be sent out and that’s what i did at my monthly craft group get together yesterday, i made these…

It’s not enough but hey it’s a start….lol!

Xmas Parade 2009

Finally, i get around to posting pics of the parade!

hehe…..   Better late than never right?

Spongbob and Patrick were a big hit with the kids.

Cait thought the bagpipes were cool!

A Roman Legion in Orewa????

The parade is all about the kids and my Miss 8 loved every minute of it ( and managed to collect quite a stash of lollies while she was at it…lol)

This charming rabbit turned out to be the girlfriend of one of Josh’s mates, man she must have been hot in that outfit.

Even the Grinch turned up for this event….lol!

I read in the paper this morning that there was 135 floats in this year’s parade and they estimate that approx 6,000 people turned out to watch it!

We will be there again next year.

:-)

Craft Free Time Out

There was no crafting done this past weekend (shocking I know!!!)

The girls and I had a man free weekend so got up to other things instead.

Mal was away at Keri-keri doing the half marathon …..he did it in 2 hrs 38 mins, only 2 mins slower than last year which was a fantastic effort considering he had done next to no training!

He has suffered a bit because of this though and reckons it may help a tad if he did a wee bit before next years event……. May help?????

One would imagine it would help greatly ;-)

J was away at a mates place all weekend, such is the life of an 18 year old huh?

So the girls and i went out for dinner Friday night, had pancakes for breaky Saturday

Went to watch the Orewa Santa Parade (I’ll post pics of that tomorrow) then went to my friend Dianne’s sisters xmas shop at Manly where i bought the brats their special decorations (a new one for each of them every year).

This has the girls all inspired to put up the tree so maybe this coming weekend we will make that our priority.

We popped in to see G & E and to drop off my sewing machine, at least it will finally be used on fabric instead of paper….lol

I ended up with an extra teenage girl when Steph’s friend T came to stay Saturday night, which was fine as they do their own thing and i just chilled out for the evening.

Sunday everyone was home and routine was back in place but it was nice having such a laid back weekend.

Today i was out and about with J then this afternoon i thought i’d do a layout for a challenge at Scrappin’ Patch, this one is a man layout starting with the title < 5 reasons Why I Love…>

This was an opportunity to scrap a pic of hubby & I, so it’s done and uploaded.

See ya…

Well that has made my day, right off to make a coffee and get started on the next challenge layout.

Have a great day.

Monday Creativity

Once again i’m behind on the challenges i want to complete but i’m determined to hang in there and keep up cause they are keeping me churning out layouts, which is a good thing.

But one of these days i’m going to be done a couple of days before a challenge deadline instead of a couple of hours (sigh).

This layout is for a shabby chic challenge issued by Annelie the criteria was to be a non-square layout with at least one piece of chipboard.

I had to race to get this done and photographed before i lost the light, i would have played with it more if i had the time but never mind it’s another page completed for Steph’s album.

S&K

Huge congratulations to Annelie who is one of the newly appointed Up 2 Scrap Elite Team you can see who else made the team here.

The other day Mal decided to bring one of his work vehicles home, that doesn’t happen very often and it still catches me out wondering what the strange rumbling noise was that i could hear down our driveway?

That sound is created by this…

Truck39

Not your average everyday work vehicle huh?

:-)

quick share

Just a quick post today, i have to help Miss C finish a poster for school.

I finished a canvas for the designers choice challenge over at  Scrappin’ Patch, This challenge was set by Beverley and i only just made the deadline  …. That seems to happen quite frequently ;-)

Anyway, this 8×8 canvas is going in Cait’s rom.

Canvas

On Friday night i was thrilled to receive a message from Adrienne telling me that i have been chosen to  be ” The Artist In The Spotlight ” for November!

How cool is that!

Many thanks to Adrienne, Pauline and the DT girls for choosing me…I’m honoured.

:-)

Ok, better go finish this poster….Bye all.

Friday the 13th

And another week passes by….scarey!!!

My big guy is very happy to have completed his secondary school education and to celebrate this milestone a group of 2009 leavers are off to dinner tonight, Mal asked me how i was feeling about it?

I’m very proud of Josh, he has never been an academic and i thought he would leave before year 13 so for him to stick it out and achieve NCEA level 1 and 2 makes me very proud.

I must admit to feeling a bit overwhelmed that my baby has finished school and is an adult now, it seems to have happened so fast….Where have the years gone?

Sheesh…

That must mean i’m getting older as well….eeeekkkk!!!!!

Speaking of which, Mrs Frizz sent this to me this morning, very funny but **(do not read if you are easily offended)**

image001

LOL!!!

Thanks buddy, that put a smile on my face today.

Have you ever wanted to do a class with Jessica Sprague?

Well if you are quick you can sign up to do a free class here.

I’m going to give it a go, it’s a good way to preserve those holiday memories.

Ok, better go do something creative, have been a bit under the weather over the last two days so have had some self imposed down time but i’m feeling much better today so i may venture into the craft room.

Have a great weekend everyone.

:-)

Prima & Demos

Yesterday i was very excited to discover that one of my layouts has been featured on the Prima Blog

under a “Readers Finds” post (Nov 9th), also featured are layouts from Heidi and Michelle ….. Go the kiwi’s!!!!

Last night i was at Spotlight Link Drive for the Christmas Demo evening, <6-9pm> I was showing how to make a paper ball tree decoration using Fiskars circular squeeze punches.

I worked last years event so it was pretty cool to be back again this year.

I shared a table with Paula, who was showing how to make pinwheels and Wendy was next to us showing how to decorate candles and baubles.

Each year the staff at Spotlight have a costume competiton and it’s worth being there just to see everyone dressed up!

The staff really know how to have fun, i can see why Wendy enjoys working there.

Here you go Gloria, here are the pics…

Lots of fun….

Thank you Spotlight for having me along to the VIP evening.

Busy Weekend

I can hardly believe the weekend is over already?

The girls and I joined Gloria & Errol for dinner Friday night, it was great to catch up and it mean’t no cooking so that was a bonus!

Saturday i travelled to Hamilton with Adrienne to attend the Paperzone xmas party and apart from a dodgy start to our trip when lanes 3 & 4 were closed on the Harbour Bridge due to an accident, we had a lovely trip down to Hamilton.

What a delightful afternoon we had in the company of some very lively ladies!

Adrienne personally delivered two boxes of the new magazine (how’s that for excellent customer service!….She really is amazing).

And we had a personally escorted tour through Paperzone from Ann-marie and what a cool little shop it is!

I want to go back to Hamilton and spend ages browsing through all of the goodies and do one of Jane’s amazing card classes!

So thank you Adrienne, it was awesome  to spend the day with you and I loved being a SANZI Design Team ambassador….lol

We let off a few fireworks late Saturday night for Caitlyn, she thought that was cool!

Sunday the girls and i had breakfast at Kings and bought 5 Bromeliads and a Venus Flytrap, of course that kept Cait busy all afternoon trying to catch flies for her new “pet”….She did well catching three so we will have a very contented carnivore….lol

I’m finishing my day with this post then i’m off to bed.

Night all and have a good week.

:-)

It’s Friday!

The end of the week is here which means that for the next two days all routine flies out the window, no school lunches to prepare or getting up at 7.00am….. yayyyy!

I did have a mild panic attack yesterday when Mr J informed me that he finishes school next Wednesday….No, can’t be, It’s not that time already!!???

Ah-ha….it is!

He is on “study leave” to swat for exams, but as he only has to sit one external exam because his other subjects are all internally assessed that means he’s pretty much finished his secondary school education.

I had a meeting with the NCEA co-ordinator this morning and i am very happy to report that he has passed his level 2’s ( he didn’t have enough credits last year) so at least he leaves school with NCEA level 1 & 2…… Big sigh of relief from mum!

Miss S has graduation looming from year 10 into the senior school, the criteria for graduating is to acheive 60% of available credits for the year.

That won’t be a problem for my academic she has 98% at present.

My Miss 8 informed me this morning that she wants to dye her gorgeous Blonde hair black and go Goth!!!???

I so don’t think so!!!

Not sure where this is coming from but that won’t be happening any time soon.

On other fronts, My Gypsy is registered, updated, Calibrated and i have started linking cartridges and it was all a very easy process so now i can figure out how to design something and cut it out.

Gotta love new toys to play with ;-)

I’ve been waiting very patiently to share something new and now i can.

This new magazine should have reached retailers by today, it’s produced by SANZI and is full of  ideas using some new paper ranges and exclusive specials, so next time you are at your local scrap store don’t forget to take a look.

I read online today that tomorrow is international Digi scrapping day.

I haven’t crossed over just yet but my lovely friend Michele is a fantastic digi scrapper who designs her own kits and has an online  store where you can purchase these kits.

You can find her here.

Michele Stone Designz

She has a newsletter as well so if you want to try digi scrapping you can subscribe to the  newsletter on her site.

One day soon i’m going to have a go at digi scrapping.

Ok, thats my Friday roundup have a fabulous weekend everyone.

:-)
